I did a cityscape for an environment workshop I'm participating in and a charcoal drawing during this weeks life drawing class. I'm getting a bit more comfortable with these new-fangled charcoal bits! I thought I had more time with the pose but alas I ran out of time...

More Misc.
I've been busy with an environmental art workshop, filling out a portfolio, finishing up illos for Insomnium games and working up something for Concept Art's Last Man Standing, so there hasn't been a lot of time for quality stuff to post. At least not yet. In the meantime here are some stuff I dredged up:

Life Drawlings
I met the swell Gilead via ConceptArt.org and have been doing some life drawing with him. This has been the absolute best life drawing situation I have ever been a part of. There are so many talented people who attend. Jaw dropping stuff. Check out Gilead's work HERE. I expect to grow rapidly as an artist just being in proximity to so much talent so check back weekly for updates!

The Great Escape
Buxom Babe Busts Outta the Big House!
The following piece was created for CGPad.org's Battle Arena. It was the very first battle and the topic was a hoot.
I've started working on a series of illustrations for a publication by Insomnium Games. I hope to have some of those works posted as soon as I can!

CHOW #93
My entry into ConceptArt.org's Character of the Week.
The Brief reads as follows:
HALLOWEEN TOPIC: THE APPLE GATHERER
Time period: Turn of the century (1900's England, Northern Europe or North East U.S.).
The Apple Gatherer is an outdoor bogeyman. Sublime, subtle, deceitful and malicious. He is known to keep company with goblins, kobolds, redcaps and other foul ferries. He is especially fond of children, small dogs, and farm cats.
Seen most frequently in apple orchards, he haunts only during the twilight hours, when he is most likely to catch a farmer's child lingering unawares.
Focus on the psychology and emotional impact of the character. He needs to be believable and frightening* - NOT just some monster slammed together.
---
DESIGN NOTE: This brief is specific. You WILL NOT make it to poll if you do not follow the brief. Be creative within the parameters you have been given!
*I want some serious freak-factor going - not horror or blood and gore.
I didn't give myself much time to work on this piece. Too many social things to attend to! Birthdays, Halo, Super Puzzle Fighter. Oh my! :P

CHOW #91
This week's Conceptart.org Character of the Week brief is titled "A Gangster and his Moll". I went with a Yakuza theme. I added a detail shot of the characters' faces since the pov is further away than usual.

Green Goblin
A bit of a jam came about over at the X-Kubies site and I felt inspired to jump in. It looks VERY similar to my previous piece! Uh oh! This was a quick one that got sloppy towards the end - I was watching the end of Heroes - one of my new favorite shows.

CHOW #62
My recent entry into the ConceptArt.org's Character of the Week challenge. This week's guidelines:
AZTEC SPACE TRAVELLER.
Intelligent life forms have been visiting our planet for thousands of years. They created a giant landing strip in the Nazca desert. They have been celebrated as statues and other relics created by many civilizations in Central America.
Design a space traveller (humanoid or otherwise) wearing a costume influenced by Aztec or other similar cultures.
What I came up with:
The Space traveller's normally reliable AZ-Technology Interstellar Wormhole Portal Generator failed on a long-ago trip and he found himself trapped on a alien planet and surrounded by a primitive people. Utilizing his superior type A personality he managed to convince the tribal people to build for him a series of pyramid type structures to guide his way back home...

CHOW
I did up an image for the ConceptArt.org CHaracter Of the Week. It was my first entry. The criteria is as follows:
Non-Human Law Enforcement Officer
From any time period, must be obviously non-human (robots are ok, pointy elf-ears are not enough). Must also have a uniform with insignia and at least one non-lethal weapon.
Homo-Skinkians are a highly evolved species who share traits with their reptilian ancestors, being able to regenerate severed limbs. This race of beings has developed crime deterrents by grafting sheers onto its law enforcement officers so that they can incapacitate their suspects without causing permanent bodily damage, though in recent years the number of lawsuits aimed at law enforcers has spiked with complaints of discoloration in regrown appendages…
